The new Notice of Annual Meeting of Stockholders lists a Sanford
C. Bernstein & Co., Inc. as owning 5% of DEC stock.
Is this just some mutual fund or is someone making a move on us?
Inquiring stockholders want to know.

As I understand it S.C.Bernstein are a stockbroker and a major dealer
in DEC stock, my guess is that they are simply holding 5% until they
are bought.

Sanford C. Bernstein & Co., Inc. is an institutional money manager for
several hundred clients, mostly pension funds and the like. Their
investment in DEC is just an example of their "value-investing"
philosophy not working out. They have record losses in their clients'
portfolios this year, in part because Bernstein was a heavy buyer of
DEC stock in late 1987 and 1988. Just hope they don't decide to dump it
all now. No takeover threat - just bad decisions on the part of their
investment managers. There clients are reportedly not too happy with
Sanford C. Bernstein today.

Sounds like the same 5% mentioned back in 1037.10. I thought that
hubbub had died down.
