1092.0. "MARKETING DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM" by CURIE::ANDERSON () Tue Apr 24 1990 12:34
THE MARKETING DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM
---------------------------------
In the Marketing organization's interest in developing the profession
of marketing, a commitment was made to attract, hire, and professionally
develop the talent necessary to meet future marketing human-resource
needs. To this end, the Marketing Development Program was created
as a program for recent college hires to support Digital Marketing's
long-term goals and ensure a continuous flow of trained entry-level people
into the organization.
Requirements for candidates to the MDP are:
o An undergraduate (B.S./B.A.) degree between 1986 - June, 1990
o Zero to five years of exempt (WC 4) work experience
(These guidelines may change next year if external hiring is
permitted)
Objectives of the Program
o Enhance the base of qualified people for assignments to key Marketing
positions within Digital.
o Provide a dual development program of rotating on-the-job work
assignments and professional development courses.
o Create an opportunity for development and advancement to
assignments of increased responsibility and challenge.
o Provide background knowledge on the Company and the industry,
an understanding of the major functions within Digital, and
an in-depth knowledge of Digital's Marketing goals.
Program Components
This program is divided into two major Components:
1. Rotational Job Assignment
Each participant will hold a series of four positions of six
months each. A participant's performance will be evaluated,
and feedback will be provided to optimize each rotational
assignment.
2. Curriculum
Each participant will receive comprehensive classroom education
covering aspects of Digital's structure, management philosophy,
goals, and detailed marketing operations.
