CAREER OPPORTUNITY CENTER
QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
1. Where are the Career Opportunity positions located?
We have over 1,000 openings in field positions in sales and sales
support. The area employment managers have this information. Please
send your resume to the area employment manager in the selective
geography via VAXmail or All-In-1.
2. How do I send my resume?
Submit one copy of your resume to each area that is of interest
via VMS (USFP::CAREERMGMT) or All-In-1 (CAREEERMGMT@USFP@VAXMAIL)
and then proceed to the Subject line. Write in your badge number.
and the area that you are interested in i.e. (412378.SOA). The
other area symbols are: ECA, NEA, NYA, WEA, MAA, SWA, SCA, CEA and
CSS.
3. Can specific fonts be used to transmit your resume via VAXmail
or All-In-1?
No. Only straight text is workable.
4. When will C.O.D. III be held?
The first week in June.
5. What are the rules for temporary or contract personnel?
Temporary and contract workers are not eligible.
6. Are part time employees eligible?
No.
7. What are the rules for international employees?
This is a United States based program available to U.S. employees
working in the U.S.
8. What are the rules for returning expatriates?
Returning expatriates are not eligible for the program. Their return
to the States must be worked through their career manager.
9. If an employee sends out their resume, will their current manager
be notified?
No, it willl remain confidential. However, people involved in the
hiring process will have access to your resume.
10. Should I advise my manager of interest in this program?
It is advisable, but not required.
11. I have not fulfilled my two year commitment in my current position.
Am I still eligible?
Yes. You should be. However, you need to speak with your manager
and prepare her/him for a potential move.
12. What are the eligibility requirements?
1. Redeploy "3M" employees (Maynard, Marlboro, Merrimack) and
Area staff to sales, sales support, EIS and other direct
revenue generating positions.
2. Redeploy employees from the above listed positions to indirect
budgeted revenue support positions in the field when it
makes business sense.
Therefore, "direct" resources already residing in the field are
not part of C.O.D. because they obviously are already doing the
work we are redeploying "indirect" employees to do. "Indirect"
employees already in the field who want to pursue "direct" jobs
are encouraged to do so and will lbe supported with training and
funding. We recommend that you work this in your local district.
Field-to-Field relocations are not part of C.O.D. When they occur,
it is on a business-as-usual basis and negotiated between incoming
and outgoing cost center managers.
13. I want to transfer from Chicago to Chicago, am I eligible for
C.O.D.?
No. However, you should work this through the normal relocation
process.
14. Area the C.O.D. jobs posted in the Jobs Book?
Some are and the local area employment manager is knowledgeable
about the specific jobs.
15. I submitted my resume and have received no response.

forwared to you within two weeks. If you had an interview and have

who interviewed you or the local area employment manager (names
