An Wang, who founded Wang Laboratories and was one of the pioneers in developing computer systems for small businesses, died today of throat cancer. He was 70 years old.

The Boston Glob lauded him as "Founder of the Leading Computer Company" I guess noone cross-referenced the Wang Stock Prices in the Glob... It will be interesting to see how the stock market, and the Wang Organization itself reacts. q | |||||

The current state of Wang Laboratories reflects as little on the greatness of the man as Digital's current state of affairs reflects on the greatness of Ken Olsen. Dr Wang founded a major corporation and gave us many useful inventions, which few of us can say about ourselves, and had difficulty dealing with hard times, which few executives CANNOT say about themselves. All of us in the computer industry have lost something with the passing of An Wang, and his family and friends have lost even more. Too sad to gloat, Ed |
