898.1 | Part of tax reform????? | YUPPIE::COLE | So, you were at Woodstock! WHO CARES????? | Tue Aug 22 1989 16:11 | 10 |
| It is essentially a NOP in the overall scheme of things. It satisfies
the IRS requirements for reporting ALL compensation, $ and non-$. The company
"contributes" to your tax witholding pot at no penalty to you, and calls it
square.
Of course, if the extra "income" bumps you up a bracket, it doesn't
quite square, but today, that is less of a possibility.
Guess we can generalize that if one of theses shows up unexpectedly,
you got a reward for something!

898.2 | Did you ask your manager and/or PSA? | CVG::THOMPSON | My friends call me Alfred . | Tue Aug 22 1989 16:17 | 14 |
| Where on your pay check does this NON$ PRIZE show up? There is
no such item on mine. How is the voluntary deduction labeled?
BTW, one message on my stub is:
"For inquiries on pay issues have your manager or PSA contact
payroll group #2 at: DTN 223 (or 508-493) ext# 3612 or 3607."
I assume that other people may have other group numbers or phone
numbers. Since this NON$ PRICE thing does not appear to be
universal contacting ones manager and/or PSA would seen to be
the fastest first step to getting an answer.

It comes in the description section under earnings.

Did you know that if you let that number ring for 4 minutes it cuts
you off? So after 45 mins of busy signals and no answer...

898.4 | Yeah, it's all taxable now. | UNXA::ADLER | Ed Adler @UNX / UNXA::ADLER | Tue Aug 22 1989 19:11 | 5 |
| I got the same thing, on a separate pay stub. In our case, it was at
last year's SWS District Challenge dinner that we received an AT&T
cordless telephone, evidently valued at $120 with a 30% tax adder.

| The NON $ prize is for any award you recieved that wasn't cash. IE a
Service Excellence Trip or such. I just recently recieved one that was for
a trip in Sept. '88 so you may have to go back 2 years to find out what it
is for. My PSA was able to get a 1 day turn around on my inquiry from
corporate (then again it helps to have a PSA in the same building). I am
not too sure on this one but length of service awards might also be
included in NON $ prize. You should be able to decline any NON $ prize if
you so desire.
