885.0. "Computer Museum tickets..???" by ASPEN2::BOIKO (Is this Heaven..No, it's Iowa..) Mon Aug 07 1989 13:22

Yesterday I went to the Computer Museum in Boston and attempted to
get in after showing my badge (as I have before), but instead was told
that I needed a pass along with my badge.

So after becoming $10.00 poorer (there were 2 of us and both with our
badges), I figured this notesfile might be as good place as any to ask who
I might be able to talk to, to get a pair of Computer Museum passes.

Who would be a good contact for this info..?

    								Thanks

Subject: Computer Museum

For the past few years The Computer Museum has used
the pass system. The Corporate Contributions Group
annually receives a limited number of passes and they
in turn give them to our organization for employee use.
Their availability is communicated to employees via
DTW and activity flyers and a lottery type drawing
is then held. We've found this system to be the
most equitable for all employees.

The availability/timing of the passes is not in our control
and we've yet to receive 1989's supply. When we do, we
will follow the above-referenced procedure.

Since you state that in May/June you were allowed admission
without a pass, then I can only assume that the Museum is not
consistent in their practice of only accepting the passes.

I too am surprised that you got in before just by showing your badge.
Since about 6 years ago, this is not longer "our" museum.

Well, the Boston Museum of Fine Arts is also not "our museum", but I have
confirmed that the following information is correct. And although I received
it by mail, there are printed flyers containing this information available
from Employee Activities, so I'm posting it here. (Employee Activities has
a policy requiring them to distribute info by flyers, not by posting in
notesfiles.) The original author was deleted by the time the mail reached me,
but I think the original mailer simply typed in the flyer.

Employees admitted free to Museum of Fine Arts!!

As part of a new corporate membership structure and in recognition of
Digital's ongoing support of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, the
Museum will admit employees and one guest for free when a Digital badge
is shown. Free admission does not apply to special
ticketed events or exhibitions, for example, Monet in the '90s.

The museum is open Tuesday and Thursday through Sunday from 10 a.m.-5
p.m. and Wednesday from 10 a.m.-10 p.m. For a recorded listing of
weekly events and schedule changes, call (617) 267-9377. For hearing
impaired employees, TTY/TDD telephone service is available. Call
(617) 267-9703 Monday through Wednesday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
