The PP&P lists three assignment policies: Short-Term International Assignment Policy, Temporary International Assignment Policy and Permanent International Transfer Policy. Unfortunately, the book does not discuss relocation procedures for any of these. Can anyone expand upon these procedures as is done in 5.05 of the PP&P? Doug

I did a three year stint in Valbonne, France from 1984-1987. If you would like to talk about it call me <dtn 297-2640> there's just too much to type in here. -mike

There is a very good information booklet available from Corporate Relocation-International Assignment Manager at CFO2-3/A98 DTN:251-1025 called GUIDE TO INTERNATIONAL RELOCATION (EA28013-85 6/85 61 2.0) which describes in detail the: 1. Short-term international assignment (3 to 12 months) 2. Temporary international assignment (1 to 3 years) policies. This booklet does not cover the Permanent International Transfer policy. -Avinash

re .2: I highly recommend the booklet to anyone contemplating an international assignment. The policies for short-term and temporary international assignment are summarized on pp. 16-24 in this 119-page booklet, which covers more than just the policies. I don't know which policy manual has the actual policies, but they are sections 9.01 (short-term) and 9.02 (temporary assignment) under "International Relocation Procedures" and formatted like the PP&P. They are 12 and 17 pages respectively. Judging from PP&P section 5.19, permanent international transfer is rare.
