509.0. "I'm not guilty!!! " by BLITZN::LITASI (Sherry Litasi) Sat Apr 09 1988 19:01
Problem: 2 parking tickets @ $30 each to be paid by 4/23/88 or to appear
at a hearing in rm224 Boston City Hall, 10:30 4/11. If I don't
pay or show up, I can't drive in Mass again...so they say on this
computer generated notice from the office of the parking clerk.
In my defense:
1) I never saw either ticket on my car; if I really did something wrong
I would have paid it.
2) At the 2 times I supposedly got ticketed, I wasn't there.
2/20 0813p 67 Symphony - I was on a plane back to Denver
2/20 0815a 4 Symphony - I was packing to leave the Westford Regency.
3) I was in the City from about 11am to 4pm, parked for a while in a
real parking place that had no restrictions that I could tell. And
I never moved the car. I don't know the name of the street, but
it ran under the expressway adjacent to Quincy Market. I looked up
Symphony and I was NEVER on that street.
4) I returned the car to Avis @ Logan at about 5pm.
5) I just got this notice last night, so I can't possibly appear at
10:30 am in Boston on Monday. And...why fly 2000 miles just to
protest my innocence over a $60 ticket.
Can anyone help me? Do you know someone at the City I could call?
I'm sure I could get the documentation to prove my whereabouts. But
how to I handle this from 2000 miles away. Should Avis get involved?
I am posting this several places to try to reach as many people as
possible. Thanks in advance for your help.
