445.0. "Criteria To Rate Performance?" by BSS::WOODWARD (Some day I'll look back + laugh) Thu Jan 21 1988 10:38

What kind of criteria can a manager use to rate your performance on
a Performance Review?

Can he/she rate you on:

Loyalty?

Attendance? (for a WC4 position?)

Personal Conduct?

Enthusiasm?

Supportiveness?

Are there any guidelines as to what should and should not be included
in the Performance Review?

Performance reviews are covered in the Policies and Procedures,
    section 3.03, 'Salary Reviews':

"An employee's performance on the job is the most important factor...
Other factors ... include ... the employee's general attitude and
    loyalty."

Review the P&P if you have more questions.

The CUP online newsletter, Electric Exchange, Vol. 1, No. 4, carries a
report of an August 1988 attitude survey of U.S. CUP employees.

Germain to discussions here (and also in notes 942 and 975) is that
    only:

    	- 49% of the respondents agreed that criteria used to evaluate
    	  their performance were objective.

    	- 35% aggreed that their wages compared favorably with fellow
    	  employees'.

    	- One third agreed that pay and performance were correlated

Interestingly, the other statements for which there was less than 50%
agreement, pertained to management communication above the supervisor
    level.

For details, the newsletter includes a pointer to the following
    directory:

I haven't tried but I presume these files are accessable.

I wouldn't express an opinion of how my wages compared with fellow
empoyees' unless I knew them all. I wonder how informed the CUP
    respondents were?
