443.0. "MET Pay -- any comments??" by DISSRV::STRONACH () Tue Jan 19 1988 15:20
No expound too much on my dilema with dealing with MET Pay for my car
insurance -- I want would like some advise..
I had a car accident -- rear end collison which I have been removed from
any liability -- clearly the car rear ended me -- now here's my problem --
I had the car inspected by the insurance adjuster, and was assured that
the final decision to either repair or put new part on would be clearly
the body man's decision!! Now the insurance adjuster has taken away that
responsibility and is dictating that it will be fixed and will be fixed
within 2 hours -- not replace the part but fix it -- how does one fix
"plastic" and take out all the crimps -- the body man is saying there is no way
he can fix it in two hours -- the striping takes this long and besides cannot
guaranty the work for longer than 1 year -- this is an 1987 SS Monte Carlo.
I'm not pleased (to say the least) that the insurance company want to
"super glue" a 1987 car --
I do have waiver of deductible -- and much more than usual on my insurance
policy and this is the first time I've been an accident and have had to put
in any claims.
I'm not feeling good about having to argue with my own insurance company, which
will in turn be reimbursed by the other person's insurance company. So...
my question is what options do I have?? Who can I talk with?? I'm feeling
that I have no alternatives -- and this is depressing.
The insurance adjuster is saying that it there responsibility to bring the
car back to pre-accident condition but I feel if "super glue" brings it back,
how long will that condition be -- what happens after one year -- what happens
if this doesn't hold up and I go to trade in a car that clearly shows an
accident.
I can safely say, that if this car part is not replaced and only
"super glued", with only 1 year warranty (that's all GM will warranty it),
I will change insurance companies. In fact, after all the discussions with
this agent, I still will change companies. If this is how they treat one,
I'm not impressed!!
Has anyone else had problem dealing with MET pay?? If so, how were you to able
to overcome.
Distraught, disgusted and disgruntled

Try OPEN/NONOTE SEESAW::CARBUFFS
You might find a better audience in that arena.

| Ask to speak to the adjusters supervisor. The claim is going to be
paid by another insurance company. This person has no business
interferring. Since you are not at fault the person at fault's
insurance company is responsible. Contact them directly.
If this happens to be Met as well threaten to sue them.

| I had problems with getting the METPAY adjusters to look at my car
when the body shop opened the hood and for checking out the car
when it was completed by the body shop. I talked to the manager
of the Bedford, N.H. office and also to our corporate Personnel
Liason person at 251-1232. I got results fast. My body shop man
said he had to repolish his shoes because the adjusters licked them
so hard after I got my complaints in. Good luck.

| Thank you -- I did exactly as .3 suggested. I also got excellent service
and results after speaking with our liason person. I'm now awaiting for the new
parts to come in -- they were ordered about 2 weeks ago but because this
is a new car, the parts are difficult to obtain.
