414.0. "DTW in MKO2??" by TREK::WATERS (Lester Waters) Thu Nov 05 1987 11:56

I'm up in MKO2 (Merrimack, NH) and often wonder why we don't
get DTW (Digital This Week). We do get New Hamshire View, which
is a similar publication (it is actually published in this building).
ZKO (Nashua, NH) gets both DTW and New Hampshire View.

I like to read the classifieds in DTW as well as New Hampshire View
(they are different). I called the folks who issue DTW and they
say that my facility (MKO2) receives DTW just like the other
    facilities.

Hmmmm... I've never seen DTW around here -- just New Hampshire
View. Does anyone know what is going on? Sounds kind of political
to me.... "inquiring readers want to know".

New Hampshire View is your local version of DTW. DTW is published for employees
in the greater Maynard area.

Spitbrook, being right on the border, managed to arrange to get both, but it
took quite some wangling and some convincing that a significant number of ZK
employees still lived in Massachusetts.

    Re: .1

MKO1 seems to have DTW, but not MKO2... and the DTW people insist
that we do get it. Where do they go?

414.3Do you care enough to fix the problem?FURILO::BLINNEureka!Thu Nov 05 1987 16:3712
Why don't you ask the DTW people just who in MKO2 is getting
all the copies of DTW they ship there. Then go to that person
and ask what's happening to them. Either they are getting
lost in the Twilight Zone, or they are getting trashed, which
is a waste of time, money, and energy on the part of DTW, and
I'm sure it will get fixed if you bother to make an issue of
        it.

On the other hand, you could just complain about it here and
        it won't get fixed.

Another reason to get DTW is that NHV runs about 1-2 months behind
DTW in current news. Also, NHV doesn't seem to consider Spit Brook
a New Hampshire plant - we are almost never mentioned.

414.5Is there a *Georgia View* anywhere???QBUS::FINKTime for a Dandelion Break!!Wed Nov 11 1987 20:219

Ahem. Uh, just what *is* Digital This Week? Is it a local
(New England) publication, or what? Just curious because
    	 I've never seen one...

A Maynard-oriented house letter. We here in the hinterlands see
    it every couple of weeks.

Let me explain the difference between DTW and New Hampshire View,
and also give you a little bit of history to explain why MKO doesn't
    receive DTW.

DTW is the newsletter for employees in the Greater Maynard Area,
just as New Hampshire View is the newsletter for Merrimack employees.
Both newsletters contain a blend of important company news and local
events which are of interest to their respective audiences.

Now for the history: When New Hampshire View was started, about
10 years ago, it was Digital's practice to encourage local site
newsletters. It was believed that, as long as DTW was distributed
as freely in New Hampshire as it was in the Greater Maynard Area,
New Hampshire View would never be able to build an audience of its
own, thus defeating its purpose. So distribution to Merrimack was
    limited.

To answer your questions about DTW distribution in the Merrimack
facilities: The library in MKO1 gets about 10 copies. In MKO2,
some of our colleagues in Marketing Communications and Public Relations
also receive a very limited distribution of DTW -- about 30 copies
    in all.

In addition to reading New Hampshire View, Merrimackers can keep
up with the latest news via LIVE WIRE, Digital's electronic bulletin
board. In-depth coverage of company news can be found in DECWORLD,
the company "maga-paper" that's mailed to everyone's home.

Any questions about DTW, just call or write me...that's what I'm
here for. I'm glad to know that so many people enjoy it and care
    about receiving it!

414.9why not "Merrimack View" then?DSSDEV::EPPESI'm not making this up, you knowFri Dec 04 1987 15:4211
    RE .8:

> just as New Hampshire View is the newsletter for Merrimack employees.

Uh, I thought New Hampshire View was for *southern New Hampshire*
employees? At least, that's what it says. Although your sentence
above certainly explains why a large percentage of articles or events
listed in NH View contain the line "except Spit Brook" (something that
    has always galled us ZKers)...
