344.0. "Rumor - DEC to buy DTS building?" by REGENT::GETTYS (Bob Gettys N1BRM) Mon Jul 13 1987 14:38

I heard from a friend over the weekend that DEC had
either bought, or is about to buy the Data Terminal Systems
building in Maynard. Can anyone confirm or deny this?? Is
Maynard (MLO, PKO, etc.) really that tight for space??

The Mill is REALLY that tight for space. I think in the whole of
bldg 1 and 5 there are about 5 empty offices. (when we tried to
get some more, we were turned down)

344.2No room in the Inn (Mill)VAXRT::CANNOYThe seasons change and so do I.Tue Jul 14 1987 12:108
The Mill has currently something like 500-600 more people than offices.
Conference rooms are being converted into offices. A very small
conference room is usually turned into 4 offices, with no partitions.
Facilities is trying to move people out. We're doubling up in offices
and can't find any building to move to in the area. Yeah, it's tight
    for space here.

A conference room near me was recently turned into office space. An isle way
between offices also was blocked off and is now emergency office space.

That wouldn't be so bad but it was the most direct path from my office area to
the men's room. :-)

Also there are now parking lot shuttles between Parker
St and the Mill - parking is a monster also...

Digital Telecom Engineering? (If you can't get Central Engineering to build
the products you need for the EASYnet, create your own group.)

What about all that space used to beautify Jack Smiths(?) floor
(bldg 1 floor 4). I'm sure that could be restructured to efficiently
office at least 20 people. Oops, I forgot, he's a VP.
