| | Wow! This would be nifty. I'd even be willing to join the Cousteau
    Society to make it happen.

(When I was a kid, I remember wanting to be on the Calypso crew. Along
with being a doctor and a lawyer. I still have "The Calypso Fantasy",
but now I'd rather do that than either of the other two.)

You can take vacations with the Cousteau staff. They are typically
on tropical islands and involve daily scuba and surface diving.
Surprisingly, they are not that expensive. A family membership
costs $28 and a single membership is only $20. Their address is

    	Cousteau Society
    	930 West 21st Street
    	Norfolk, VA 23517

I re-read my submission and noticed that I forgot to state that
memberships are $20 or $28 depending upon single vs. family, re-
spectively. The vacations I believe start at approximately $600
and go up from there. The membership provides a quarterly magazine,
a monthly newsletter, and solicitous mailings about 2 or 3 times
    per year.

| | There are two wonderful DEC produced video tapes regarding the
Kookabura and the Stars and Stripes. They show how the microvax
on board the ship used information from the network of systems at
the central site. These folks might be interested in them. (One
of the two tapes is called "The 12th Man", which is the MicroVAX)

BTW, the boats are not allowed to communicate with shore after the
race starts. So, neither boat used DECnet, just to be sure that
nobody would claim that illegal communications were used. There
is a shot in one of the tapes that shows a floppy being flipped
on board just before cast off.

I am sorry to say that I don't know the order numbers, if there
are any. But, they were produced by Media Services in MKO1.

| 308.7 | L.A. Sales working the issue | SLDA::OPP |  | Mon May 11 1987 22:03 | 16 |
| | First, thanks to all those who replied to my request with
suggestions. Second, the good news - I called the Los Angeles
district sales office, near the office of the Cousteau Society
that had contacted me, and they have set up a meeting with two
representatives of the Society. The purpose of the meeting is
to determine the computing needs of the C.S. I was impressed
by the enthusiasm of the two sales people I spoke with and their
willingness to work a potential contact who is looking for a
    contribution/purchase package.

By the way, if anyone has decided to join the Cousteau Society
as a result of reading this note, I'd be interested in knowing
    it. Thank you.

    Greg
