| On page 212 of the US digital Telephone Directory, DECWORLD is listed
as being at mailstop CFO2-3/K23 with a DTN of 251-1016.

| On the cover of my latest DECworld, it said something like
"The Newsletter for US Digital Employees". Perhaps they changed
to a regional focus back when your distribution stopped? Perhaps
there is supposed to be a European version? (A bit ironic, the
name decWORLD which only goes the the US).

the American word "world", as in "World Series".

| The little info box on page two of my October 1986 DECWORLD says:
DECWORLD is published by Digital Equipment Corporation for
its employees around the world.
Also, the bottom right corner of the cover has a diagonal stripe
saying "U.S. SECTION". Between pages 4 and 5 (in the center) are
pages A through D, which is the U.S. section.

And the English word "world" as in "World Cup," too, I suppose?

Well, as near as I remember from the last time I watched the "World Cup",
(in the late 1960s), there were teams from Europe, South America and
parts of Africa. There may even have been a Russian team. Certainly, the
"Cup" is open to any country that wants to put up a soccer team, I think.
That compares to the baseball "World Series", which is open to the winners
of the American League and the National League. How would a Japanese or Russian
baseball team go about signing up for the baseball World Series??

| The American national soccer team were in the world cup. They
failed to qualify for the finals tho'.
C'mon, John, don't try and defend US insularity, especially
in the misuse of words like "world" for "USA".
See you in the 'box.

| "American"? You mean pertaining to the Americas?
Maybe you should have said USA? As in Union of South Africa?
The only solution is to use the ISO code for the country in question.
It is cultural and language independent and unambiguous.

The "American" I referred to was a United States of America national
soccer team called "Team America".
Which was why I referred to it as the American team.
I now declare this mouth closed.

| Before this turns into a rathole, a thought:
There are several meanings to the word "world."
It can mean Tellus, 3rd planet from the Sun.
It can mean "perspective," as "the world of stamp collecting."
It can mean "coverage," as "the world of [company]'s products."
As was once pointed out _The Saturday Evening Post_ isn't delivered
on Saturday evening, and it isn't a thick piece of wood upon which
fences are constructed. :-)

| All this discussion does not help me to understand how most of the
DEC employees in Belgium do not receive DECWORLD any more and others
still do ! (including recently engaged people)
Where is the distribution list located, and who could suddenly decide
to modify that list without notifying the interresred persons ?

We still get DECworld in the UK, at least I got a copy before I
moved offices in September.
I imagine that I got on the mailing list via Personnall, so you
might ask your Personnell if they should be notifying corporate
HQ of your needs.
I suggest someone who has a copy of DECworld to hand put in any
info on who the editor is and what organisation produces it.
