213.0. "New Facility: BOX" by EXODUS::SEGER (this space intentionally left blank) Fri Nov 07 1986 08:34

Now that DEC is expanding into the town of Boxboro, does anyone know
which building it is? There are several going in at 495 & 111 and was
curious!

There will be two Buildings--one on Swanson and the other
    	on Codman Hill.
213.2Move over, NECZEPPO::EKBERGThu Nov 13 1986 07:455
Both are right at the intersection (if you call it that) of 495
and 111. If you are on the West side of 495 on 111, both are
visible. Swanson is way up on the hill, Codman is right next to
495 in an old sand pit.

Fact: Ed Services will be moving in the near future (1988 or so).

Rumor(one of many): We (Ed Services) are moving to Boxboro.

Does anyone know who will occupy "BOX"; ie. can anybody confirm/deny
the rumor?

Thanks,

Frank

A number of NaC groups are moving from the very overcrowded LKG
    building to "BOX".

The building is "owned" by Mid-Range Systems, so I assume that they
    will move in there too.

No cafeteria there for about a year so we get to eat out at all
of Boxboro's famous restaurants (next to the Sheraton, the closest
    eatery is... Stow Airport!).

Although nothing new for DEC, I'm part of this move and the utter
stupidity of it amazes me. LKG1 is too crowded for us so they're
building LKG2 (rather nice of them). BUT -- there are people waiting to
get into LKG1 now! SO, instead of having them wait they're having us
move twice.

Here is what we have heard about the cafeteria situation.
Contact your representative for the BXB1 tenants committee
if you want more information on the situation.

Rumor update......

We will be in the BXB2 facility. This facility will house a full cafeteria.
The BXB1 facility (which I believe is being referenced for NAC) is scheduled
to be occupied this month. It has a 'satellite' cafeteria which will receive
its food from BXB2 (scheduled for occupancy in mid-March). Therefore, I
can assume BXB1 will have some inconvenience during the timeframe between
now and mid-March. A 'potential' gliche has occurred re: BXB2. Initial
inspection of the septic system by the town has not resulted in
approval/acceptance for supporting the cafeteria. This is still an open
issue and by no means sufficient as a basis for the 'rumor' referred to in
the note.

213.7Few eateries near BXB plantANT::MORRISONBob M. LMO2/O24 296-5357Mon Dec 29 1986 15:2012
Is BXB1 the one on Swanson Road and BXB2 on Codman Hill Rd.? Or is
it the other way around?
I lived half a mile from there for two years, so I know the area
well. The Sheraton is the only eatery within five miles, and it's
expensive. If there is a conference going on there, which often
happens, the dining room may be closed to the public. I think you
should demand that they pay mileage to eateries during the time
you are without a full-service caf. They have an excuse not to
serve hot food during this time; it's expensive to ship hot food a
long distance and having it prepared by a caf that is not set up
as an "export" center might exceed its capacity. However, there
is no excuse for them not to provide sandwiches and salads.
