109.0. "Internship for college student?" by SAVAGE::TURNER (Whit Turner CSSE) Wed Apr 23 1986 11:20

I'm looking for info on DEC's internship program for college students.

	o Does it still exist?

	o Who should I contact?

o Are there lists of openings?

I have a niece who is an engineering student at Dartmouth. She is looking
for an internship program for her Sept. '86 semester.

Hardware or software engineering would be fine. Location is fairly flexible,
but NH / MA is preferred (although I'm sure she'd like Colorado).

Any leads appreciated.

You might try asking this question in the Ask the Enet conference
at RAINBW::ASKENET. That conference is set up for all kinds of
questions. Hit <Select> or KB7 to add it to your notebook.

There is a personal rep in the mill (MLO3-4) that deals strictly with COOP
placements. I don't remember her name but if you ask around someone should
be able to find her. She was very helpful a few years ago when I hired
a few students for a semester or two from Northeastern.

You might try Deanna Sklenak - she works in College Relations here
in the Mill...at least she could point you in the right direction.

You might speak with Rich Guidi in BUO (DTN 249-1424). Rich recently
got me 2 co-ops from Northeastern.

I recomend the same as Sue, even though I didn't go through an

FWIW - College Relations is also involved with college HIRES, not
just internships... They work pretty closely with Mill Site Personnel
(just down the hall from each other).

College hires are also many times exempt from the hiring freeze
depending on the group interested, and whether someone is willing
    to fight for them...
