The relocation is a request to move to another country, generally for two or three years. The relocation costs to the Company a LOT of money. Your furnitures are sent to your new home by DEC, your salary has a special rate to help you to install yourself and forget the move away from your family/friends/pets etc... To benefit of a relocation, you must work for the Company for a minimum of two years, you must add something to the contry where you wish to go, and you need a "home manager" who takes the responsibility to take you back after your stay 'over there'. If you are interested in a job opening in another country, first think if you will add a value to the new group you would like to join, and if you do think so, contact your manager, then apply for the job. If you are a programmer, you have better to add some comments in your best midnight hacks before asking for an appointment... :-) If you get an appointment to go and visit the manager offering the job, there are 99% chances you will be ok. But that is another story!

I would like to know how one should go about a relocation if they have no idea what kind of jobs are across the pond. My husband, who also works for DEC, is being considered for relocation to Scotland. They haven't even started the process yet, but I plan on going with him, naturally. Can anyone suggest first steps for me to find a job there? I know it's early, but I'd like to at least have an idea of where to begin. Thanks, Diana | |||||

Try asking one of the NOTErs from "across the pond" if they can tell you of any job openings there. --PSW |
