430.0. "OPS5 for OpenVMS AXP now available" by CAPTIN::KIRK (Lost while searching for `reality') Wed Dec 16 1992 15:01
Dec OPS5 for OpenVMS AXP T4.0A
==============================
The first IFT kit is now available from:
AIDEV::OPS$V40:[KIT]ALPHA_OPS040.A
Due to optimization problems, the compiler and RTS were themselves
compiled without optimization. Expect improved performance of the
compiler, RTS, and the generated code in future releases.
There is also an Unlimited System Use (USU) PAK for
*internal-use-only* in AIDEV::OPS$V40:[KIT]ALPHA_INT_OPS5.PAK
(a command procedure). This PAK expires on 31-May-1993.
Finally, due to RDB problems, the SQL interface will not be supported
in this first IFT kit. It should be available in the EFT kit.
The release notes and books have not been changed since V4.0.
The one significant change to note is that the internal floating
point format is IEEE_FLOAT which is relevant when converting to/from
external floating point data.
P.S. Please note any problems you have with this kit in
the OPS5 conference (AIDEV::OPS5).
P.P.S. Subsequent field test baselevels will be announced
only in the OPS5 conference.
