417.0. "VDE FOR EVER !!!" by EVTAI1::SZCZUDLAK () Mon Jun 29 1992 17:37

     Hello,

     We, french customers services, would like to create an evaluation/
     diagnosis tool for call handling and I want to use VDE to do it.
     This new product will be strategic, so before starting I'd like to know
     if there is a real future for VDE ?
     I hope it's the case, so when will you deliver the V2.0 version ?

     Thanks in advance for your prompt attention.

     Note: three years ago, I've already use VDE and I interesting to
           continue...

Good question!
We asked the same thing 2 years ago! Is there still a (mini) VDE engineering
group?

re .0

You could look at some other tools to build you application :

	-OPS5 (seems to have a revival)
	-DECtree (for internal use only)

Actually DECtree comes close to the VDE functionality.

417.2No plans for a V2AZUR::ORCIUCHWed Jul 01 1992 11:558
    The latest news I have from the engineering group in the States
    responsible for VDE is that there will not be a V2. They are building
    a UNIX-only version under contract to GE, but as yet don't know if this
    will be available to us internally. There are no plans to make it a
    product.

    	Thanks for the notes file.
    	I'm surprised with "the NO ANSWER" of the VDE group.
    	It's a real convinient for me because I've a background on VDE
    	and I've six months to create my tool; so switch on DECtree
    	is some loose time for me ...
