409.0. "ECAI'92 - Who's planning on attending?" by AIAG::REWARI () Sun Feb 23 1992 10:28
The 10nth European Conference on Artificial Intelligence (ECAI'92) will be
held in Vienna, Austria, from August 3 - 7. ECAI is the European forum for
scientific exchange and presentation of AI research. ECAIs are held in
alternate years.
I've been told that this year ECAI92 received over 680 papers, compared to the
428 at ECAI90/Stockholm. Therefore, they expect a bigger turnout than at the
last ECAI. This year there will also be a Digital Equipment prize at the
conference.
My tutorial proposal to ECAI'92, entitled "AI in Service and Support", has been
accepted and I plan on teaching the tutorial at the start of the week and
attending several of the workshops and the conference paper sessions during the
rest of the week. I have several questions:
1. Are there others at Digital/Europe who are planning on attending this
conference as well?
2. Traditionally, does Digital have a large presence at ECAIs?
3. Will Digital have a booth in the exhibit area? If so, who is responsible
for the booth?
4. Will employees from Digital/Austria be actively involved in this conference?

409.1 | ECAI-92 European AI Prize | AYOU50::VANDEBRUG | | Thu Jul 30 1992 12:44 | 7 |
| Since 1986 Digital has given an annual European AI research award
either at ECAI or some other European AI conference (for years when
there is no ECAI). At ECAI-92 the winning paper selected from a short
list provided by the ECAI conference program committee is in the area
of distributed AI for the paper entitled "Reaching Agreement Through
Partial Revelation of Preferences" by Eithan Ephrati and Jeffrey S.
Rosenschein, Computer Science Department, Hebrew University, Jerusalem.
