Subject: FWD: FUZZY SYSTEMS Conference
MCC is hosting a conference on Fuzzy Systems June 27-28, 1991. It will feature
the leaders in the field and will focus on the application of the technology,
in addition to the theory. The Japanese have fielded applications ranging
from vacuum cleaners to elevators to kanji character recognition to portfolio
management, all based on Fuzzy Logic. American industry has pretty much
scorned the technology, although MCC hopes to change that through this
conference and a follow on project later this year.
The conference announcement and agenda is attached. There will be
a $350 charge for participants - however, the charge is being waived for
Digital and other MCC shareholders. If you plan to attend the conference,
send email to me at AUSTIN::KUHLMAN.

Conference Highlights
Dr. Bart Kosko, a leading authority in the field, will offer a
two-hour tutorial on Fuzzy Logic and Fuzzy Systems.
Dr. Lotfi Zadeh, the originator of Fuzzy Logic, will provide the
keynote address at Thursday night's banquet.
A panel session comparing Fuzzy Systems with other approaches to
Control, both from theoretical and industrial perspectives is
planned.
The final session of the conference will provide a look into the
future of fuzzy systems: the application domains where they are
likely to be employed in coming years.
Group visits to MCC can be arranged for the afternoon of June 26th.
MCC Activity in Fuzzy Systems
-----------------------------
MCC will launch a new project in Fuzzy Systems in October 1991.
The goal of the project is to investigate the power of Fuzzy
technology in various target domains by developing a series of
applications which will then be analyzed in detail to offer
general insights on the use of the technology.
