                           -< DEC Ada FT1 Available >-
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

      A network kit is now available for the initial field test for DEC
      Ada V1.0, running on RISC ULTRIX systems.

                                     NOTE

              This kit is provided for internal use. It is also
              provided for the use of LICENSED external field
              test sites that are supported by an Digital
              employee. This software should otherwise never be
              given or shown to customers. Please contact Pat
              TLE::Bernard with any questions concerning this
              policy.

      This field test release (FT1) is being sent out while development
      is still underway to give us early feedback on the user interface,
      as well to help us discover bugs and problems.

      There are a number of restrictions in the FT1 software, as some
      features have not been fully implemented. In addition,
      performance issues are just beginning to be addressed, and the FT1
      performance characteristics are significantly different from what
      is expected for the final Version 1.0 product.

      Although we are aware of a number of FT1 performance problems, we
      would appreciate feedback on any aspect of the FT1 software,
      including performance.

      Before installing the kit you should read the release notes and
      installation guide.

      The installation guide is in:

          labrea::/usr/proj/ada/public/dec_ada_igft.txt

      The release notes are in:

          labrea::/usr/proj/ada/public/release_notes

      The kit is in:

          labrea::/usr/proj/ada/public/DAR100.tar

      To install the kit, copy it to a disk and extract the files:

          cd wherever
          tar xf DAR100.tar

      Then run setld on the directory:

          cd /
          setld -l wherever

      The documentation is also available in the same directory in postscript
      (.ps) or bookreader (.decw_book) form:

          ada_lrm.ps                      Language reference manual
          ada_rtr.ps                      Run-time reference
          ada_dap.ps                      Developing Ada programs
          ada_lrm.decw_book
          ada_rtr.decw_book
          ada_dap.decw_book

      Please use the Ada QAR system if you have any problems or bug
      reports:

          Node:          LEGO
          Account:       QAR_INTERNAL
          Password:      QAR_INTERNAL
          QAR database: DEC_ADA_T10 !!! Note - not VAX Ada database

      Please use the TURRIS::ADA notesfile rather than the QAR system
      notes file for comments since the QAR system notesfile can be
      accessed by customers.

      Information about future updates can be found in the TURRIS::ADA
      notesfile.
