IBM to sell VMS emulation software through cooperative software partner^H

ANDOVER, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--To accommodate Digital Equipment VAX users
that want to benefit from the new IBM RISC System 6000 UNIX workstation and
protect their large VMS investment, Boston Business Computing Ltd., and Ki
Research, based in Hanover, Md., announce ``vaxpax,'' bundled VMS-emulation
software for the IBM RS/6000.

The vaxpax product includes a VT320 emulator; a VMS command shell and
utilities, mail interface, and text editor; and DECnet and LAT network
capabilities.

According to Edward J. Gaudet, BBC's marketing manager: ``Vaxpax is the
first product for IBM's RISC platforms that offers VMS users a complete
migration path. Clearly, IBM is looking to gain market share in DEC's
backyard. The vaxpax product leverages IBM's pursuit for dominance in the
UNIX workstation market.''

Under the terms of the agreement, Ki Research and BBC will jointly integrate
the following existing products into vaxpax: Ki Research's KiNET software;
Century Software's TERM, VT320 terminal emulation software for UNIX; and BBC's
suite of VMS-emulation software - EDT+, VCL, Vmail and Vnet. Ki Research, an
official IBM Cooperative Software Partner (CSP), will act as the main
distribution channel for the product. In addition, IBM will market vaxpax
directly through its sales force.

Jim Corrigan, manager partner at Ki Research, states: ``Ki Research and BBC
are providing a substantial productivity product which will let VMS users take
immediate advantage of the compute power of the IBM RS/6000 and continue to
use their familiar VMS commands and utilities, VT320 terminal capabilities and
DECnet and LAT network resources. It's the most complete set of software
available today that lets VMS sites benefit from UNIX while maintaining their
overall productivity, user investment and competitiveness.''

All products are available now. For more information, call Boston Business
Computing at 508/470-0444, ext. 303 or Ki Research at 301/553-0181.

Ltd. All other product names are registered trademarks of their respective
