289.0. "Corporate direction for Lisp???" by BEAGLE::BEAUMONT (C-x `) Tue Feb 26 1991 20:13
Given that Lucid lisp seems to be the corporate product these
days, where does that leave customers with VAXlisp wanting to
enhance their lisp environment? Are their any special arrangements
for existing customers to move to Lucid. In short what's the
party line for existing VAXlisp users wanting to upgrade?
In the course of fixing up a VAXlisp user from Napoli, Italy, I have
been asked to find the official DEC strategy on lisp. Given
that this fellow is using VAXlisp 2.2 and wants to do some
X windows programming it hasn't escaped his notice that V2.2
only supported X10.
I get the feeling we have to be careful how we present our case.
As has asked for an official statement and gives the impression
that he's not too bothered what that answer is, which means
to me that we may be being sounded out as a future lisp vendor.
Hard to tell as I only get my contact second hand but I would
like to give the local team the best information and support.
If there an EIS contact who would like to be involved with this
customer, please contact me by email (funix::simon).
