On Dec 18th, we had a presentation by GSI-ERLI, the french representatives of Carnegie Group. They are positioning themselves as the leader and are disclosing informations we don't have via the internal channels. It's NOW time to get a clear DIGITAL statement about IMKA. - Henri -

Unfortunately, when one is a member of a consortium, such as we are
with IMKA, we do not have a lot of control over what other members of
the consortium say and do. At the present time, Digital is taking a
very conservative approach to publicity regarding IMKA. Hence, we are
positioning ourselves as a member of IMKA to work with other large
users of knowledge based technologies in addressing what we believe
to be the real issues facing industry in this technology for the 90's;
i.e., our initial involvement is internally oriented with no public
product plans. We want to make sure that the goals of the program are
1) achievable and 2) worthwhile once we test it internally on real
world problems. This is the same approach which Digital has always
followed in advanced technologies, a.k.a. OPS5.
So, no matter what other members of the consortium might be saying
right now, Digital's party line is exactly as stated in the August IMKA
press release. I only have hard copy of the release, but I will send it
to you upon request (YIPPEE::ROACH).
Jack (SELECT::)Rahaim has volunteered to answer any specific question
regarding IMKA and claims made by our partners.
