| Luc,
Dirk Bade also talked about XQUOTE a config system for DEC software, which he
has managed to sell, (along with consultancy to change the domain knowledge), to a
customer in Germany. Ask him about it!

I'll ask Dirk about his XQUOTE-project,
does anyone has a pointer to DICE info?

255.4 | DICE: Further Information | YIPPEE::JONES | | Tue Nov 27 1990 08:30 | 13 |
| Luc, I suggest you contact Mick YIPPEE::YURCHAK; he did some work on
trying to apply DICE to a simple configuration problem, and has
produced an evaluation report.
I would be pleased to discuss further if you believe there may be some
potential in making a customer project out of this; we have some ideas
on configuring, and some tools which could be a good basis for
starting-off potential projects. Let me know if you think there is
some potential.
Cheers
Steve

255.7 | Xquote/Xenter short description | GYPSC::BADE | | Fri Dec 07 1990 14:06 | 19 |
| Just for completeness:
Xquote/Xenter is reusable software based on VAX OPS5. It helps sales
representatives to configure Digital's SW-products with respect to
prerequisites (HW+SW) and options. Inputs are an existing customer
SW-configuration (or zero) plus possible customer wishes (to be
selected from a structured wishlist). Outputs are lists of SW-products
with recommendations for their application.
The user interface is done in VAX FMS (but in german language), so
Xquote runs on every VAX. The SW is reusable in the sense that it might
work unchanged with another set of wishes and products, as long as that
set fits into Xquote's product and wish tables.
