Pat,  I guess the way we should proceed on this is to get a list of who's
bought OPS licences over the past couple of years.  We could also bring it
up at the Forum next week.  Can you handle this?

Subj:	Feedback needed for OPS5 productization justification


Good morning Ishii San and Ed,

We are working on putting together a justification for productization of the 
next version of OPS, currently being developed for CSDG.  This new version has 
many enhancements, both in speed and functionality over V3.0.  If the decision 
is to make this a product available to Digital's customers, we want to determine 
if the following issues are key to making this next version successful:

		Transparent SQL interface (Rdb, other?)
		RISC/Ultrix runtime version only
		RISC/Ultrix development and runtime version.

These features could be made available in the next release (short term) if 
external customer demand justified it.  They are currently being planned for a 
second release (long term).

Now, the reason for this memo!  We are seeking feedback on these features from 
current external OPS5 users who have deployed systems.  Are there any existing 
customers in your areas that could provide this feedback?  A brief note from 
them stating how they have used OPS, stating their interest in an enhanced OPS 
version, and stating there needs (if at all) for the above features would be 
extremely helpful in setting our engineering direction and getting approval for 
productization.  

We need this feedback as soon as possible.  Do you have contacts that could help 
us?  I would appreciate if you could contact them directly since a call from me 
would be totally "out of the blue".  Thanks for your assistance!
