Discussing problem/solutions with customers often raises a 'this must have been developed before' feeling. This happened for following problem as well : A newspaper publisher is looking for a solution to automate the layout of the advertising pages. (The company sells advertising space in their newspaper). Currently an 'expert' is doing this manually and uses some basic rules to make the layout. The goal the company hopes to achieve using an automated solution is : - reduced cost (salary) - later deadlines or prevent press-stop - improved quality - less errors - flexibility My question : o Has this been done before ? o if so, can we contact the user o if so, is it reusable o if not, are we interested in this as a project? 0 any input/remarks are welcome Thanks, Luc P.S. I couldn't find relevant information in the project database.

Such a thing has been demonstrated in DECville 85 or 86. Unfortunatly i have lost everything about that. Milan STARKE in Geneva certainly has a better memory than me. - Henri - | |||||

The system in question was developed by Mike Stock who currently is the president of AI Technologies; the Mercury people. From what I can remember, the system was sold to some software house in the UK. I haven't heard about it since.
