The July 23, 1990 edition of Competitive Sales Update (distributed to all
sales and marketing staff within Digital) contains 6 articles on Knowledge
    Based Systems in pages 45-68.

Contacts within Corporate AI Marketing are listed with each article to
provide additional support for questions or issues which may arise.

The first article, "Knowledge Based Solutions - Digital's Competitive
Positioning" begins on page 42 and describes Digital's overall KBS
strategy. Some specific point product issues are mentioned as well as
some competitive strategies and responses when in competition with SUN,
    Apple or IBM.

The second article, "Knowledge Based Software Products' Competitive
Positioning" begins on page 45. This article contains a matrix of
various KBS software products that run on Digital systems and lists
other appropriate information such as price, contact for more
information, the relationship with Digital, and other systems on which
    the software is available.

The third article, "Knowledge Based Software Portfolio" begins on page
57, and is a chart of the various KBS software products developed by
either Digital or those third party vendors with which Digital has a
formal relationship (i.e. DDS, CSH or CMP). The chart includes a list
of characteristics such as performance, forward chaining capability,
and development environment which is rated for each product on a scale
of 1 to 4, and is intended as a quick reference summary of each
    product's characteristics.

The fourth article, "Knowledge Based Systems Consulting at Digital"
begins on page 61, and gives a description of the KBS consulting
services which Digital offers through the Select group.

The fifth article, "The Digital Fellowship in Artificial Intelligence"
begins on page 63, and provides an overview of Digital's Fellowship
program, a unique 6-month knowledge engineer and business training program
    which is available to customers.
