210.0. "Resource Scheduling Productivity Tool." by CHEVIE::FITZGIBBON (Joe Fitzgibbon EIC-AI Engineering) Fri Jul 06 1990 12:32
The Valbonne EIC/AI Engineering team would like your feedback on
your perceived need for a "Resource Constrained SCheduling Productivity
Tool" for Customer projects. Such a tool would, ideally, allow the
creation of applications such as,
Curricula Scheduling, Planned Maintenance Scheduling,
Transport Scheduling, etc.....
The current prototype supports the specification of the information
needs, creates a RDB database and generations the necessary
access routines. It also supports the specification of constraints
which are to be applied to resources and the scheduling heuristics
employed for a particular application space, as well as providing some
commonly used heuristics such as "Choose earliest date first".
The current prototype will perform automatic scheduling (and will
avoid eeeendless loops on impossible schedules), as well as providing
"expert support" to a user who wishes to modify the automated results,
or develop a schedule manually.
Your comments on the "market potential" will be appreciated.
Thanks,
Joe.
