LISP: Style and Design, by Molly Miller and Eric Benson Part No. EY-C199E-DP
List Price: $26.95 US Digital Employee Price: $13.48

This book is not a primer on LISP. It assumes your basic background in
LISP programming. Its purpose is to enhance your programming in LISP
programming, so that your work is more efficient.

LISP: Style and Design explores a process of style for LISP programmers,
taking a holistic approach that comprises efficient algorithms, effective
organisation, appropriate abstractions, well-constructed function
demonstrations, useful commentary, and efficient debugging.

Using a large program as an example, this book covers such topics as: how
to organize a large programming problem; keeping clean intermodule interfaces;
establishing abstraction barriers; arranging program files; creating the
appropriate documentation; and effective debugging style.

You see how the program develops as actual coding is captured in a text
file. This example illustrates concepts that are described in the text but
which require additional enhancement.

About the authors:
Molly Miller is the manager of technical publications and training for
Lucid, Inc., Menlo Park, CA. She has done graduate work in symbolic and
heuristic computation at Stanford University.

Eric Benson, co-founder of Lucid, Inc. is a principal scientist - also at
Lucid, Inc. He has designed and implemented a new compiler for Lucid Common
LISP and was the principal designer and implementer of the virtual machine
specification for that product.
