113.0. "Fellowship versus Euro Training Programs" by BONNET::COUTIER () Mon Jun 26 1989 19:09
In light of the upcoming introduction of a European AI training program, I see
the need for its positioning versus the AI Fellowship Program:
AI Fellowship Program:
Strategic nature
Customer: non-DEC (as a company or as part of a company, for example an
IS department which would be an IBM shop)
Individual: strong technically, ready to become a dedicated "knowledge
engineer".
Goal: seeding a Digital champion to help build a partnership which will
leverage future business
Revenues: direct revenue generation is not sought, except for
continuation of the project started during the apprenticeship period
Visibility: high, from customer and Digital's perspectives (VP's)
Euro AI training program:
Tactical nature
Customer: selected DEC customer (with AI-related sales leads)
Individual: software engineer or project development leader, not
necessarily someone who wants to spend all his time on expert systems
Goal: generate direct revenues and getting project intelligence
Revenues: direct revenues (training and consulting)
Visibility: medium (account team)
Please make sure that you consult with me and/or Jim Kane's group
regarding the best program to offer to your different customers.
We will help you address each individual case with the most appropriate
program and related support.
Your comments are welcome.
