92.0. "VAX Decision Expert is alive and well!" by BONNET::COUTIER () Wed Mar 15 1989 09:41

Someone told me that a rumour started in Europe about VAX Decision Expert
being "shelved" after version 2.0 (to be announced in Q3 FY90).

Just back from a trip to the US, I can only strongly DENY any such
rumour, which is totally unfounded. As a matter of fact, AI Engineering
is putting the biggest chunck of their energy on VAX Decision Expert.
Tim Yeaton, AI Engineering Product Management's manager, will probably
come to the next AI Forum to explain the long range plan for AI
    Engineering.

Product requirements are now being taken for version 2.0. The current
wish list includes a full Decwindows style, integration with
DecDecision for planning applications, direct link to SQL and a
runtime PC version. If you wish to add more requirements, now is
    the time.

Because of the focus on short-term revenues, VAX Decision Expert
is probably the best tool we have to generate quick business. So if
we all want to be in the AI business in a year or two, we should think
    twice before "shelving" this tool.

The Q numbers for VAX Decision Expert are:

    	QL-VI2A*-H**

where the first * corresponds to the letter or digit applying to
a given CPU (example: R for a Vaxstation 2000) and the second *
corresponds to the media type (example: 5 for a TK50).

These numbers have been put in the European Price File and should
now appear in all local price lists.

European SDC first shipment is scheduled for late May/early June.
