April 27th - 28th, 1989
Sophia Antipolis, France
Find below the announcement of the next AI Seminar that the European
Application Center for Technology will run on the 27th and 28th of
April, 1989 at the European Technology Center in Sophia Antipolis,
France.
This seminar, based on over 10 years of DIGITAL's experience in
managing the development of expert systems, provides our PROSPECTS with
a comprehensive overview, structured methodology, and tools critical to
successfully choosing, planning, managing and implementing expert
systems in their respective organizations.
The topics will be presented in a format which includes lectures, a
prerecorded video case study, and group discussions designed to cover
practical strategies for managing the expert system process from three
perspectives: strategic/business, technical, and human
resource/organizational.
As the seminar will be run in English, please ensure that your customer
has a sufficiently high level of English.
Before inviting the customer(s), please carefully edit and return the
attached briefing questionnaire to FRANCOISE JUNG @VBO. Each

ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE SEMINAR
Seminar Purpose
Upon completion of this seminar, the customer will understand the
critical components of successful expert systems program management
and will be shown demonstrations of successful expert systems currently
in day-to-day operation within DIGITAL. The critical components
include:
o The importance of, and techniques for, choosing the right problem
domain.
o The appropriate use of expert systems methodology compared to
conventional approaches.
o How to set a boundary to the problem and develop the related
prototype.
o How to manage change in the project.
o How to manage the overall expert systems development program.
Audience
The successful management of expert systems programs and projects
requires that all persons involved must understand the total
development process and their own roles within it. Expert systems
applications managers, project managers, members of a project team,
or anyone with responsibility for managing expert systems development
would benefit from this seminar.
However, due to the limited number of seats available, and potential
positive impact this seminar can have on your account, you should aim
to invite the type of persons who will be influential, and have a
vested interest in making this technology successful in their
companies. An ideal representation from a company would be a team of
two people; a business sponsor who is championing the technology in
their organization plus his or her technical consultant who will be
tasked with managing the implementation of the technology.
Seminar Format
The presentations and demonstrations will be prepared and delivered by
the European Application Center for Technology knowledge engineers and
technology transfer consultants with extensive experience in the
development of expert systems. This effort will be also supported by
DIGITAL's AI Marketing team plus guest speakers from industry with
experience in managing the introduction of AI solutions in their own
corporations.
