43.0. "AI demos: get 'em while they're hot!" by HERON::BUCHANAN (Andrew @vbo/dtn8285805/ARES,HERON) Wed Jan 04 1989 14:39

	The following replies give information concerning a number of demos
accessible through Valbonne. Kits and Documentation can be copied across and
used. In addition, for those who have access to the ARES cluster, the demos
can be run locally. A very simple menu-driven interface can control the
running of the demos, or allows remote users to browse to see what is
available, but its use is not mandatory.

	Most of the demos and scripts live in:

	ARES::DEMOS:[AI]

	Type @AI_DEMOS.COM to bring up the interface.

	For each demo, the following information is presented:

Name:
Type:
Description:
Documentation:
Location:
Hardware Requirements:
Software Requirements:
Installation:
Restrictions:
Contacts:

	If you have any comments, problems, complaints, requests, wishes,
hopes, despairs or other thoughts or emotions concerning these demos, please
get in touch with me, and I will try to make your life a happier one.

	Can I say thankyou to the many developers who have put up with my
gumby questions about the systems that they have so expertly put together.

Andrew.

    A brief comment from me on memory requirements.

    Database Advisor uses next to no memory, but VAX Document does use
    a fair bit.

    I did two versions of this demo: V1.0 and V1.1. Andrew has hosted
    the V1.1 version, which requires VAX Document on the w/s. If this
    is impossible to setup, one can use V1.0, which uses a remote
    DECnet process to do the document processing work.

    Alternate locations are:-

       V1.1	mallet""::aicu_demo$public:[db_adv]
       V1.0	mallet""::aicu_demo$public:[db_adv010]

    V1.1 also has some Blue Peter style documents all ready produced
    in case Document cannot be had.

    It would be nice to do a more upto date version of this for DECwidows,
    but money is needed.

    regards,
    Malcolm

This directory now has W:RE access for everyone.
It is being added to regularly. Occasionally, something may be protected.
This is because it is an area under change, or because someone has asked
for the demo to be withdrawn for a period.
