8.1Next Forum: Your Ideas?LARVAE::TURNERMark Turner * DTN 849-3429 * SPYDER::TURNERTue Sep 27 1988 11:3744
The NSTC members of the Competency Circle have been thinking about
the next AI Forum and would like to get your ideas, especially since
our proposals are a change from the way the Forum has been run in
the past.

We tentatively propose that the next forum be organized as follows:

    . Venue:	Valbonne

    . Date:	After Christmas, e.g.
    		    . week of 2-Jan
		    . week of 9-Jan
		    . week of 16-Jan

    . Topics:	. About one day each devoted to each of the main
		marketing segments: manufacturing, telecoms,
		and finance. Each of these days would be devoted
		to presenting the most important demos for that
		segment, and presentations from the relevant DCC
		on the industry, where AI fits into it, and how
		to develop business. Presentations from SWAS staff
		who have been doing projects in this area.

		. A half-day devoted to VAX Decision Expert, now that
		the DECWindows version is becoming available.
		(This product was *very* popular at DECWorld.)

		. Discussion of the marketing strategy and European
		SWAS operating plan in light of the changes in AI
		Engineering. This would include discussions with:

			. Scott Flaigg
			. Jim Kane
			. Pascal Coutier

		. Other Competency Circle business.

We are proposing this as a one-time format; in future we would return
to a more in-depth technical topic.

We look forward to hearing your comments and suggestions.

8.2A good timetable in my viewLARVAE::WILCOCKHave TK50, will travelTue Sep 27 1988 12:336
    The schedule for the January forum sounds very good. One small addition
    I'd like to suggest is that we present all the important demos that
    were at DECworld - not just those in Finance, Telecomms and
    Manufacturing

8.3Later pleaseHERON::ROACHTANSTAAFL !Wed Sep 28 1988 16:306
    Personal preference would be to have the forum as late in January
    as possible. Will be taking home country leave to the US for Christmas
    and would like to take advantage of some Bedford training before
    returning.

    re .1 - .4:
    All dates in January are ok for me.
    Now let's talk about the content:
    	I like the proposed topics though I miss the technical part
        of the Forum.
        What about having a FULL DAY (or even more?) on VAX Decision
        Expert with hands-on experience?!

    Earlier than 16-Jan is not possible for me. Maybe we should aim
    for after DEES.

    Some other topic suggestions:
    o	object-oriented techniques in general, Trellis-Owl in particular
    o	NEXPERT: how can we help to put customer support in place quickly

    Ren Haentjens, Belgium.

    Trellis-Owl will not be a product,
    what about KEE.
