402.0. "> 900 recipients in mail gives "Not enough memory avail"!" by OSLLAV::BJARNEC_P (The last boat left without me .....) Wed Apr 16 1997 10:38

    Hi,

A customer of mine has problems when the users receive mail
messages with 900 - 1000 recipients or more. They get an
"There is not enough memory available to complete that operation"
error message - and MS-Mail hangs (Incoming mail -> Mailworks Server
    -> Mail Driver for Mailworks -> MS-Mail).

I searched this conferance for similar reports and found some useful
info in notes 189 + 272, but they are both quite old and this customer
is using latest version of the Mail Driver, for instance. Also, from
the info in these 2 notes I'm still unsure if the limitation of approx
900 recipients is caused by MS-Mail itself or our Mail Driver product.

Maybe someone could clarify which one is the culprit!?

The problem occurs on all clients when they receive mail with many
recipients and most of these clients are typically high end Pentium PCs
with either Windows or Windows NT 4.0. Below is a typical
configuration scenario which would experience the hang:

Pentium PC w/ 32 MB RAM and large Page file
    Windows NT 4.0
    Mail Driver 1.7
    MS-Mail 3.2
    MailWorks Server 1.3 (ECO?)

I'd be grateful if someone could please point out where the problem
lies and if there is any workaround or new version available to fix.

    Thanks,

    	Bjarne Christensen, CSC, Oslo.

    Hi

When are they getting this error? When they read the message? If so,
it has to do with the viewer the MS-Mail client uses to read the
message. It has an upper limit size (32K comes to mind, but don't
quote me on it it's been a LONG time). The only thing they can do is
save the message to a DOS file and use a different viewer.

BTW, the driver is NOT supported on Windows NT/95.

Also, there's an ECO kit to V1.7 in TIMA.

402.2Thanks! Are W95/WNT supported if ECO is installed?OSLLAV::BJARNEC_PThe last boat left without me .....Thu Apr 17 1997 04:2812
    Thanks Cindy!

I thought it might be an MS-Mail problem ..... ;-)

I'll brief the customer on this situation, and also mention about
supported platforms. Incidently, are Windows95 / Windows NT platforms
supported if they instal the Mail Driver ECO?

    Thanks,

    	Bjarne :-)

No, we never did any work to support the NT/95 platforms because the
driver ships with MS-Mail V3.2 and it's not supported on those
    platforms.
