I believe there should be a simple Tools Repository in the CSC; a common menu system that allows ANYONE to access ALL tools. It appears that Alan James' efforts in this area are no longer supported, however, there is a tool called KATIE available from the CSC in Colorado. I have the bare bones of this application, and have asked Pete Alvis and Mike Baldock if it's possible to implement it officially..... Comments?? P.S. KATIE is the Knowledge and Tools Integrated Environment (or alternatively, it's Charlie Ginhardt's daughter!!)

167.1 | Looks very promising | KERNEL::BLAND | Norman Bland 833 3797 CSC, Basingstoke | Wed Feb 16 1994 13:22 | 7 |
Having had a very quick preview of KATIE with Chris, I believe it looks very promising. As it was/is being developed in Colorado, not eveything will be of use to us in UK. However, if we have a UK/European maintainer and pool our ideas with Colorado, I see some very useful benefits. Can we, will we, integrate the existing tools into KATIE? Norman
167.2 | Give KATIE a try | KERNEL::ROBB | Tue Feb 22 1994 17:09 | 11
Chris, Currently there are tools all over the place. So much so that many of them are not used because they are not known about or can't be found when needed. We need a common area for all tools, even if it is only a pointer to where the tools live. As a lot of work has already been done on KATIE I feel that we should use it. Ken

> As a lot of work has already been done on KATIE I > feel that we should use it. Fine....DISK$APD5:[KATIE...] is the repository. Let me know what tools you unearth and I'll see about incorporating them... |
