This is a quick note to inform you of the availability of the UNIX based Patch 
distribution system.

To access the system log into decuk (decnet 41.6) aka decuk.uvo.dec.com 
(internet 16.182.128.1). Log in as user "spc"

The front end is menu driven and functionally maintained by Andy Bays (e-mail 
[email protected], decuk::amb, andy bays @uvo), you will be faced with choices 
which are self explanatory (in theory), a help screen is available. Any problems 
with the user interface and anything accessed through the system whould be 
directed towards Andy.

The back end; the patch inclusion and maintenance is functionally maintained by 
Les Carleton (e-mail [email protected], decuk::les, les carleton @uvo). The 
functions performed by the back end will not become apparent to the user, 
however the front-end not functioning may be attributed to the back end failing. 

Please be precise in reporting of errors or functionaility upgrades.

Patch extraction can be achieved to local tapes including DAT, TK50, QIC,  
network copy via DECnet (IV) and TCP/IP, and mail includinh DECnet, Internet and 
All-in-1.

The system automatically logs the auditing details about the destination and 
recipient of the patch, so please enter accurate information; it is in the 
company's best interests to keep track (esp. in terms of BSI).


Assigned specialists are involved with incorporating the latest patches in their 
designated areas into the system. If there is a patch that needs to be placed on 
the system please contact the area owner. These specialists are listed under an 
option in the menu.

Currently Ultrix and OSF/1 patches are incorporated on the system.
