We have had quite a few instances 'up here' in the North where Basingstke specialists have not been able to connect to a Customer's AES machine. When we have checked into it we have had no problem in connecting. Some customers are getting a little upset with this and have had their Account Engineers in onto site to check out the systems. This is obviously costly and time consuming. The problem nearly always turns out to be the fact that the connection is being attempted from the WRONG NODE. If, when looking at the call, one should look in the 'M' Field one would notice that it will say either "LOGGED VIA WARRINGTON" or "LOGGED VIA BASINGSTOKE". This will then tell one which node to connect via, ie Warrington you must use NICEN. Hope this clarifies the issue - it will 'go away' Regards Bob

HI BOB, HAVING BECOME SMART ENOUGH TO REALISE THAT 071-XXXXXXX AND 081-XXXXXXX TELEPHONE NUMBERS BELONG TO WARRINGTON BECAUSE THEY BELONG TO WELWYN (BUT NOT ALL WELWYN CUSTOMERS...IE CITIMAX & CREDIT S. ARE ON THE SOUTHERN SYSTEM). AES ALSO HAS ITS OWN BUILT IN TRAPS "NUMBER IN USE" (OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT )..WHICH IS A SOFTWARE PROBLEM... ITS "NOT" THE NORTH ALONE THAT SUFFER , THE SAME PROBLEMS APPLY EQUALLY TO THE SOUTH.. NIGEL GARNETT (A NORTHERNER AT HEART) | |||||
