33.0. "The Shift Kitchen" by KERNEL::PETTET (Norm Pettet CSC Basingstoke) Tue Apr 25 1989 18:25

Why is it that despite numerous notices, memos etc people STILL leave
dirty plates & cutlery in the shift kitchen sink?. Now I have a
theory that it isn't always CSG,CCD etc personnel so now is your
chance. Lets have the guilty named here!!
    Cheers..Norm

33.1Some people are naturally mucky KERNEL::ADAMSVenus on Remote ControlTue Apr 25 1989 20:0320

One procedure which often stops the "guilty" being discovered, is
that Mary (our early morning cleaning lady) nearly always washes
up any dirty stuff, left in and around the sink. Maybe she should
be dissuaded from doing this and should be asked to report her
    findings to a manager.

The problem also affects the "Staff-Restaurant" , because the cutlery
is put in the draw rather than being returned downstairs. Whatever
happened to the idea of takeaway boxes and plastic cutlery for any
food being taken out of the restaurant ?????

If the plates/cutlery etc belongs downstairs, why don't people
return their dirty items there, rather than clutter up the shift
kitchen and leave an untidy/unhealthy mess. After all they have
    a dishwasher downstairs, don't they ?????

Maybe the same people are responsible for the messy state of the
    fridge ???

Soon the shift kitchen revamp will be completed. Does this mean
that the WHOLE building will now have access to its facilities and
if so how is that going to be managed? After all look at the state
the kitchen got in before. I feel it should be made perfectly clear
to the rest of CSC that the shift kitchen is ONLY for use by shift
    personnel.

33.3Shift Kitchen or Spare Room ??KERNEL::ADAMSVenus on Remote ControlThu May 04 1989 09:2715

If it means keeping the Shift Kitchen clean and tidy, by excluding
others, then I'll vote for that. Too often it has been the dumping
ground for dirty plates etc which should not have been taken out
of the Restaurant, in the first place.

Also it gets used as a make-shift conference room/card school by
other groups, who often get very shirty when our people enter at
such times, for legitimate use of the room.

Other buildings have loung areas, set aside in their restaurants,
hopefully we will get the same in the refurbed restaurant.

The refurbishment is now complete. It looks nice, doesn't it?
The tap drips already - didn't last long did it.
Tonight when I went to make a pot of tea I had to throw away
some food wrappers to make room on the worktop to put the cups
down. Didn't stay clean for long, did it.

    Some things just don't change.
