New Techtip Submission Process
BY: Sandy Ciccolini
Prism User Support
The TECHTIP Process provides for electronic submission of TECHTIPS to
CSSE for approval and then on to MicroMedia Publishing for distribution
to field personnel.
This process applies to preliminary TECHTIPS submitted by field
personnel as well as CSSE generated TECHTIPS.
Effective immediately, TECHTIPS will be sent to MicroMedia Publishing
via the PRISM system by submitting a new PRISM case. The Problem
Description field on all TECHTIP cases must contain the completed
electronic TECHTIP form which is available from MicroMedia Publishing.
The software which generates TECHTIP forms is available from Micromedia
Publishing and can be installed on your system easily with the
following command:
COPY EXIT26::USER2:[MICROMEDIA.TECHTIPS.FORMS]*.*
This will copy over to your system the four files needed to produce the
electronic TECHTIP form at a total of 261 blocks of disk space. When
copying is complete, type RUN TECHTIP at the dollar sign and begin
completing the form.
The completed TECHTIP form can now be included into the Problem
Description field of the PRISM case by pressing <PF1> <7> on the keypad
when you are in this field. This will give you a command prompt at the
bottom of your screen where you will type "Include" and the filename.
You may need to use the full file address,
(NODE::DISK:[ACCOUNT]filespec), and be sure the protection on that file
is set to world readable. After including the file, type <PF1>
<enter>. This will process your case submission, give you the case #
and send the case off to screening.
For TECHTIPS Originating in the Field
The 'Option' field on the case must contain the product on which the
TECHTIP is being written. This will route the case, after screening,
to the CSSE group supporting that option for their approval. TECHTIPS
must be approved by CSSE before going to MicroMedia Publishing.
If the TECHTIP is approved by CSSE, CSSE will change the option field
on the PRISM case to 'TECHTIP' and will forward the case via
AUTOMATIC_ROUTING (as) COORDINATOR. This will send the case to
MicroMedia Publishing.
If the TECHTIP is not approved by CSSE, the case will be closed with
the reason. Reopen requests should be directed to the CSSE coordinator
who closed the case, (use "Show Distribution" from the PRISM Main Menu
to find the name) or to the PRISM Office.

For TECHTIPS Originating in CSSE or being Forwarded to MicroMedia from
CSSE
The 'Option' field on the case must contain the word TECHTIP.
When a new TECHTIP case is submitted, like all PRISM cases it must be
screened before going on to CSSE or to MicroMedia Publishing. "Show
Distribution" will tell you which screening function the case belongs
to. Please do not assume that by merely submitting a case your TECHTIP
will reach MicroMedia Publications. This is particularly true of cases
originating in CSSE where many users may not be familiar with case
screening. If you don't understand the screening step, please call the
Prism Office.
MicroMedia Publishing, the ultimate destination of all TECHTIP cases,
will close these cases with both the Speed Bulletin number and the date
of publication.
Do not attempt to send TECHTIPS or any other mail to CSSE::PRISM. This
is a captured account which runs the PRISM application and does not
accept mail.
For questions, problems, comments on the PRISM system or process,
please call the PRISM Office at DTN 276-8480 or send mail to
CSSE::JUDSON.
For questions, problems, comments on the electronic TECHTIP form or the
TECHTIP process, please call Anne James in MicroMedia Publishing at DTN
283-6204 or send mail to EXIT26::JAMES.
