Hi, everyone I've got a customer with a Informix database with data corruption problems. He complains that it started to happen before the upgrade. He upgraded D.U. to V4.0a and Informix to 7.20 Informix is accessing row device, but there is LSM over the device. I've looked for some patches about LSM, but found none. The hardware controlling the disks is a HSZ40 with Raid 5. The system is an Alpha 1000 4/266. Using uerf command I was not able to see any hardware problem. Does anyone knows something about a possible LSM problem ? Of course I asked him to talk to Informix people, and they answered that the kind of corruption is too awful to be done by the database control, but I know nothing about errors details. Thanks in advance for any help. Regards. Manoel F. Abreu Neto (MCS/DEC@Rio)

Hi Manoel, We are not aware of any LSM problems that would cause the database corruption problems described in your note. In order to resolve this problem, it would be helpful if you could provide more information about the system configuration and the pattern of the database corruption problems. The following configuration information would be really useful: uerf STARTUP log, LSM configuration information from voldisk list and volprint, firmware revisions (particularly for the HSZ40), HSZ40/raid 5 configuration parameters. A couple of other points: 1. You may also want to consider filing a QAR as described in note 165. 2. Check into a recent field blitz on the HSZ40 about possible data corruption. Thanks.
