907.0. "as1000 memory questions" by HAMSUP::KOENIG () Fri May 23 1997 04:32

    Hallo ,

I have generell question to AS 1000.

1.Is it alowed to mix 60 ns in one bank and 70 ns in the other ?

2.Is it alowed to mix 60ns or 70 ns simms from different vendors
    within one bank ?

3.Is it allowed to mix a bank with 54-2317060 ns 4 Chips as ECC simm .
And the rest of the Bank 4 60 ns 54-23170 with 12 Chips on a Simm.

4.Is there a tool to get information for memory configuration.
    I mean a reliable .

    thanks in advance

    Hallo ,

I have generell question to AS 1000.

1.Is it alowed to mix 60 ns in one bank and 70 ns in the other ?

>>>>>>>>>>> Yes, but note the system is designed for 70 ns and will not
take any advantage of the faster SIMMS, the 60ns will be
accessed just like they were 70ns.

2.Is it alowed to mix 60ns or 70 ns simms from different vendors
    within one bank ?

>>>>>>>>>>> NO, we advise against doing either of the above. Never
mix vendors within a bank. Mixing 60 and 70 from the
same vendor within a bank should work, but again it is not
advise and is technically an unsupported configurations since
            we did not qualify it.

3.Is it allowed to mix a bank with 54-23170 60 ns 4 Chips as ECC simm .
And the rest of the Bank 4 60 ns 54-23170 with 12 Chips on a Simm.

>>>>>>>>>> Sounds like it should work, these are the same type of SIMMS, the ECC
is just a depopulated version of the same SIMM. I'm not sure
what the question really is here, I may be missing something.

4.Is there a tool to get information for memory configuration.
    I mean a reliable .

>>>>>>>>>>>> I don't , but someone else may....but feel free to ask
             here in the notefile. :)

    thanks in advance

    Hallo,

thanks for youre reply. In the field are many engineers who replaced
70 ns against 60 ns ,because they have heard somewhere on the floor
never run memory with different speed in one system.
Please give me youre name ,function and telefon-number for reference.

    thanks in advance
