898.0. "RZ40/9GB support?" by OTOOA::JPOND () Fri May 09 1997 10:21

    Hi there,

    Seems odd there are no queries in here on this subject, and none in
    ASK::SSAG, for that matter.

    What's the status of RZ40 (9GB) support inside the AS1000/AS1000A
    internal shelf?

    RZ40 is supported by AS1000A systems. RSE published a support
    statement that RZ40 is also supported by AS1000 systems.

    Thanks for the info. Is there a pointer to where this is documented?
    Thanks,

898.3RZ40 Info Not Easy To Find...XDELTA::HOFFMANSteve, OpenVMS EngineeringMon May 12 1997 14:5324
   Information on the RZ40 disk device is relatively difficult to locate
   in general -- there are only relatively few articles or matches on
   "RZ40" in the usual places (such as WebIR; an index of Sales Update
   and many other publications), one has to know to search the text of
   all documents, or to search for "9.1 AND GB" in the title, in order
   to locate more than one or two document matches.

   Also see SSAG::ASK_SSAG note 6446.*.

   Here are the RZ40 contacts:

    Well, I've done the looking around in the usual places in -.1,
    including ASK_SSAG. I was under the impression however that the folks
    who do the server engineering would be the folks qualifying devices on
    the systems, not the storage folks. Obviously, the storage folks in
    ASK_SSAG can answer questions regarding support in BA356 enclosures
    etc.

    So my question still stands: does the AS1000A support this device?
    Being a half-glass-empty sort of guy, I don't think it does because I
    have yet to see anything. Any pointers appreciated.

    Jim
