850.0. "What happened to PB2GA-JA?? graphics" by COPCLU::GREG (Greg Parker @DMO, 857-2454) Thu Feb 27 1997 08:34

	What do we do as a replacement for the PB2GA-JA for an
	AlphaServer 1000A UNIX system? There doesn't seem to be
	any low-cost alternative?

Both the 1Mb and 2Mb versions of the V+ option card
work with Digital UNIX.  With the previous modules;
only the 2Mb version was supported with UNIX.

    	Is there any reason for a customer who has a 1000A 5/333 to be
    concerned with future support of his PB2GA-JA? He's running VMS V7.1 and
    we just went through a troubleshooting excercise on his system which
    concluded with replacing the CPU but the viability of the PB2GA-JA was
    called into question.

    	Why does the system options page -
           (http://www.digital.com/info/alphaserver/tech_docs/alphasrv1000a
                 -/docs/supported_options_pntk.html#Video)
    show the PB2GA-xx for Windows NT and the PBXGB-xx for VMS/UNIX? is
    the PB2GA-xx not supported for VMS? This also causes the customer
    concern.

    	Thanks,

    primarily Windows NT and the PBXGB-xx to be for VMS and UNIX?

    	To summarize my previous note, is the PB2GA-JA officially supported
    with OpenVMS Alpha V7.1?

    	Thanks,

    	Dave
