844.0. "Alphabios Disk Partion" by CHEFS::NELSONG () Wed Feb 19 1997 10:14
I have an ALPHA 1000A 5/333 with a 3 channel SWXCR installed, Channel 0
and 1 have no devices attached, channel 2 has 5 RZ29B-VW configured in
a Raid 5 set.
The Alpha bios level is at 5.23, the customer has configured the raid
set into 10 partions, a system partion of 6mb, a boot partion of 1gb,
the rest of the raid set was split into a further 8 partions of 1900mb.
The customer installed NT4.0 successfully, accessed Disk Administrator
could see all the partions, converted 5 of the partions to NTFS
successfully but on the last 3 partions it seem to display a message
indicating "0mb formatted" he rebooted the system, but then displayed
another error message indicating that there was no boot selections, and
was not able to see the raid drive at the Alphabios.
The customer has now re-installised the Raid set and I have advised him
create 2 partions for the boot/system then to re-install NT4.0 and
create the 8 partions at the Disk Administrator level.
This worked.
Question.
Is it possible to configure 8 partions or more in disk setup within the
Alphabios or is disk setup only mean't to configure 2 partions!!!!!!!!.
the boot/system.
