836.0. "Problems starting network with NT 3.51 build" by DAGWUD::SYSTEM () Thu Feb 06 1997 08:17
I'm having a problem building NT3.51. When I attempt to join a domain
during the network setup portion, I receive a message along the lines
of a domain controller cannot be found. If I elect to join a workgroup
instead the setup allows me to complete the network portion. When I
reboot, I am able to log on but the network does not appear to be
functioning. I cannot ping the gateway and when I attempt to connect to
a network driver, the only node I see is the one I'm working from in
the default workgroup.
The network controller is FDDI in a PCI slot.
There are no entries in the Event Log other than a the Event Log
creation notification.
This server also has a RAID hardware storage controller in the first
slot and a DE435 network adapter in the third PCI slot. Attempts to
configure the DE435 also appear successful initially but I upon reboot
I get the following error:
The DEC DC21040 Adapter driver failed to start due to the following
error:
A device attatched to the system is not functioning.
Yes, we have tried another DE435 as well as combinations of FDDI /
DE435 cards in different PCI slots.
If I have not provided enough detail regarding this configuration,
please let me know.
Thanks in advance for any help you might provide,
Kevin
