Does Forte have any problems with a central server node that has a network card that allows the server to have several IP addresses? I'm having a problem connecting to this (NT4) server from any client (NT4), I can ping to it (and from server client), run Forte Distributed on the central server but not from any of the clients, where the connection is refused with the message "this normally means there is something wrong at the other end". TCP stack space and page file (100Mb) seem to be fine. Any tips/hints? Theo

916.1 | Using IP addresses in an Env search list | LEMAN::NAUFFRAY | Thu Jun 05 1997 00:49 | 26 | |
Theo, On your client side, if you define a FORTE_NS_ADDRESS with format : "Nodename:port" (ex : JURA:3000 for a TCP-IP Name Server address) Forte requires a static Network address (JURA address here) to match the Port number assigned to it (3000 here). But in your case, you can manage various IP addresses with a search list : FORTE_NS_ADDRESS "16.60.96.10:3000,16.60.96.11:3000,16.60.96.10:3000" for example, so apply the principle of Environment Manager fail-over to workaround the various IP addresses that might be assigned to your central server. Normally, it'll work. Hope this helps.
