103.0. "Interoperability and Migration Conference - ideas?" by DEDUCE::HART () Mon Mar 11 1991 12:44

                        **Coming in June**

        *******************************************************
** Interoperability and Migration Technical Exchange **
        *******************************************************

This will be a two day technical exchange (June 11 and 12) for all
interested internal people. One day will be dedicated to interoperating in
VMS and ULTRIX and one day to migrating from VMS to ULTRIX.

Interoperability refers to the ability to distribute an application's
functions across a network to different hardware/software platforms. [1]

Migration refers to moving software to different target platforms
and making changes to the software as necessary to make it run
correctly and as expected. The term, migration, makes no assumptions
about whether or not portability was considered when the application was
designed and implemented. [1]

I am compiling a list of TOPICS of INTEREST before sending out
a "Call for Papers". What topics would YOU like to learn more about?
Topics can relate to things like system management, applications,
user interfaces, hardware and software products available, networking
protocols, standards, training, etc.

Please be as specific as possible with titles of topics and please
respond to this message by March 14th. A "Call for Papers" will be
going out on March 19th.

Thank you....
